One of the surprising pleasures of creating this blog is the exposure to different products, websites and books focusing on children. Kideos, a website centered on age-appropriate videos for children, is one of these surprises.
A year ago the founders of Kideos were searching for online videos for their daughter while she was being treated in the hospital. After clicking on a few inappropriate videos they decided to create a website that would house programming perfect for their daughter. Thankfully, their daughter’s condition improved and their family is now hospital free. They are delighted to share their creation with you.
There are a few aspects of Kideos that make it successful. To begin with it is incredibly user-friendly. Videos are divided between age groups (from <1 up to age 10) and also by specific categories such as Sesame Street. Want your child to have a little downtime, but don’t want him glued to the TV for an hour long program? Most of the Kideos’ programs are short clips approximately 5 minutes long. Within minutes I also discovered clever programs I had not seen before. Check out the Pocoyo series- super cute!
While I will never be an advocate for plopping children in front of the TV or computer for long stints, I do believe that everyone needs downtime (isn’t that why reality TV does so well?). Kideos offers age-appropriate, worry-free programming for children and parents during these times of the day.
